Recently I went home to visit my family in Michigan. Fall is my favorite season and carving pumpkins in 80 degree sunny San Diego just isn't the same. This time to slow down and disconnect with my loved ones is very sacred to me. Between the frosty mornings, vibrant colorful trees, and the squash soup bubbling away in the crock pot my heart is filled!
During this visit home I was able to spend some quality time with one of my nieces. She is 13 years old and growing up fast. I planned to pick her up from school and spend the evening with her eating up all of her sweetness!
Surprising, I received a call from her after her lunch hour in panic. She had slipped in the lunch room and managed to spill pasta sauce all over herself. To make matters worse a girl in her class started out burst laughing which caused more embarrassment.
I met her in the office with a fresh pair of pants and gave her a big squeeze! I told her to send that girl that laughed at her lots of gratitude because she is her greatest teacher!
We have to remember that teachers come in all shapes and sizes. Some are pleasant and wonderful and some are laughing in our face in the lunch room.
Thank all your teachers weather labeled good or bad! I'm so grateful to all the people that laughed at me and teased me because it only left my heart more filled with kindness and compassion. They were there in my life to teach me exactly the way I don't want to treat people!
Let's come together and spread kindness to all we meet this Holiday season:)
